Teacher of the Week!
Congratulations to our very own Mrs. Ratcliffe! She has been recognized as Williston Auto and Walmart's Teacher of the Week! We are so PROUD! She is also the lucky recipient of three drawers full of school supplies AND a BRAND NEW CAR for a week! Give her a wave when you see this Teacher of the Week driving around town! Way to go, Mrs. Ratcliffe!

We've had a few questions regarding charges that are appearing on your child's lunch account at school. While breakfast and lunch are free, we want to remind everyone that extra milk or milk without a full meal is not. Many students take an extra milk after they finish their first. If you would prefer they don't, be sure to have that conversation with your child. Please see the attached reminder with more information regarding milk charges. If you have further questions, please call the school office.
Thank you!

Divide County Elementary - Internet and phone service currently is not working at the elementary. If you are calling and not getting through that is why. We are working to correct the issue as quickly as possible.

In accordance with the executive order issued by Governor Burgum on Friday, November 13, the following will be implemented at Divide County Public Schools effectively immediately:
1. All students and staff in grades K-12 will be required to wear a mask while in the school building and throughout the school day. Exceptions to this mandate are outlined in the executive order in regards to health conditions of which a student may not be required to wear a mask. Social distancing is no longer a consideration with mask use as per the executive order, therefore, all students will be required to wear a mask regardless of distancing available in their classroom or other building space. This executive order also includes bus transportation, therefore students riding the bus to/from school will be required to wear a mask during their bus ride each day.
2. Extracurricular activities are prohibited effective November 16 and until December 14 which includes at this time - practices, or any organized gathering outside the regular school day. Events that are academic or related specifically to an educational function can be held under this order and will be coordinated and monitored through the school district.
3. The executive order does NOT have an impact on the school district food service program or school meals provided by the school district during the school day.
We appreciate the cooperation of our students and families with the new guidelines and efforts to address the current pandemic situation in our region/state.

Please help keep our school doors open by becoming a substitute teacher or a paraprofessional substitute. You may be more qualified than you think!
We are experiencing more staff needing to quarantine or isolate at home. This is making it increasingly difficult to keep classrooms open. Many of these teachers are healthy, asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms and are able to teach from home, however, we are not able to leave students without an adult physically present in the room. We are looking for community members who are willing to become certified as either substitute teachers or substitute paras simply to be the adult in the room while the teachers who are able, teach from home. Duties would include helping students and the teacher as needed with basic functions of the classroom.
We are also in need of para substitutes to work with students in small groups or individual settings.
Listed below are the requirements to become a sub or a para. If you are able to help out one day a week or as many as possible, we could use your assistance!
If you are interested, contact the school TODAY! Let's tackle the challenges our school is facing together and keep our doors open for our kids!
Substitute License Requirements
-Official transcript documenting a minimum of 48 semester hours of college coursework provided to ESPB.
-Successful background check completed with ESPB.
-Online application for the substitute license.

Paraprofessional Requirements
-Complete a DCSD Application for Employment
-Successfully complete a background check

Governor Burgum has announced that Divide County's risk level will be raised to the Yellow/Moderate Risk level on Friday, November 6. Please note that this does not change the current instructional model at DCSD. Instruction will stay on-campus with continued safety measures in place.
Please continue to do your part to slow the spread.

DCSD Families,
We are continuing to email letters to notify families when your student has been a close contact to another student or staff member who has tested positive for COVID. An email was sent yesterday to several DCHS families and today several families from DCE will receive an emailed letter. These letters will either be from tanja.brown@k12.nd.us or desiree.wishart@k12.nd.us.
Families/students who received letters yesterday or today are not required to quarantine due to the Mask Exemption allowance and instead are asked to SELF-MONITOR. If symptoms develop, stay home and contact your healthcare provider. DCSD follows the mask exemption guidance which allows students and staff to stay in school if all parties were masked (with approved mask types) during the close contact with the positive case. We thank our students and staff for taking extra precautions to help keep us in school!
Notifying close contacts takes time. In order to speed up the process we often bcc the emails so we can send them in bulk. We are not able to identify your child individually in that type of mailing. Therefore, we will list the classes/courses in which the close contact occurred. You will only receive the letter if your child is enrolled in one of the listed classes. After receiving the email, please contact the sender if any further clarification is needed.
Please continue to do your part to slow the spread of COVID in our community. We must all work together to keep our families healthy, our businesses and schools open, and our healthcare facilities able to serve the needs of all those who are ill.

Each year the 3rd graders use a program called “Kicking It Multiplication” to learn their multiplication facts. Each day they have 60 seconds to complete 60 multiplication facts They earn belts along the way after mastering 4 sets of 60 facts.

For those planning to subscribe and use the pixellot system today thru NFHS, we discovered some condensation in the left (north) lens due to the recent moisture. Just a reminder that the game can also be viewed on facebook live through the DCSD Facebook page.

DCSD will be following the recommended face covering guidelines put out by the NDDOH. This will allow us to keep more students and staff IN SCHOOL and exempting them from at-home quarantine and allowing them to SELF-MONITOR while attending school.
PLEASE NOTE: ONLY the approved masks may be used at school and school events by all staff and students. If you do not have a qualifying mask, DCSD has the approved surgical mask for student and staff use. ALSO, we recently received white, cotton washable masks from the state for both students and staff. If your child needs a washable, re-usable mask, please contact your school office and we will send one home with them.
Thank you for helping us keep our students in school!

DCE and DCHS staff and students will return to on-campus learning beginning Monday, October 26.
We understand this may seem contrary as we continue to have COVID-19 cases within our community. While no one can predict the future, it is likely that COVID-19 will be amongst our community off and on throughout the school year. The recent COVID effect on our staff has diminished and we are able to resume normal, in-class instruction on Monday, October 26.
It is our belief that most students learn best on-campus and in-person. We must also consider the whole child and their social and emotional well-being. We will continue to make concerted efforts and take precautions to help slow the spread of COVID-19 within our schools. We understand that every school closure not only affects our students but their families, our local businesses, and our community as a whole.
With this in mind, we ask all families and members of our community to help us with these efforts outside of the school buildings by staying home when sick, social distancing, wearing a mask in public, and practicing good hand-hygiene. We are a small community and interactions outside of the school building also affect what happens inside our school buildings.
We understand that COVID-19 affects everyone differently. We are not asking you to fear the virus, but rather, to help us take precautions to limit the spread, especially for those who are most vulnerable in our schools and community.
Schools are the heart of most small communities. We are so proud to be serving ours – please help us stay strong!

There are 13 tickets still available for tomorrows FB playoff game. Mr. Harding will be at the high school from 1:00-2:00pm. You have to come to the High School parking lot and physically pick up the tickets. There will be no reservations through comments made on this post. Thank You.

The upcoming Football game between the DC Maroons and the Beach Buccaneers will be available to stream through our new Pixellot system. This is an approved streaming service through NDHSAA. To sign up for an account, please go to: https://nfhsnetwork.com/ Once you have created an account, search for Divide County High School in the search bar. The cost is 10.99/month or 64.99/year. These systems are installed in both our HS gymnasium and out at the FB field. We have the ability to stream any event that takes place in these venues. Please note that Saturday is the first time this system will be used. We appreciate your patience. You may also view the game on the Divide County School District Facebook page or listen to it live on 105.7 FM radio.

Close Contact Notifications:
The NDDOH is experiencing a backlog and requesting all COVID positive individuals to notify their own close contacts. With this change in protocol, schools are not receiving the "return to school" dates for students identified as close contacts during this time. Families of DCE & DCHS students are asked to report if your child is required to quarantine along with start and end dates to Mrs. Brown, DCSD COVID Coordinator. If you are unsure of the dates, she will help you work through this process. This information can be emailed to tanja.brown@k12.nd.us or call the District Office at 701-965-6313. Upon receiving this information, DCSD will work with you to make instructional plans during your child's quarantine. Thank you for your assistance!

Divide County Football Fans:
After our initial distribution of football playoff tickets, there are 50 tickets available for the playoff game Saturday. Parents/guardians of players will be given preference to obtain two additional tickets for each player’s family. These tickets will be available at the high school main entrance Wednesday (Oct. 21) morning at 8:30 until 9:30. Any tickets left after that will be available to the general public at 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. When arriving at the high school, please remain in your vehicle lined up along the curb, facing north and someone will come to your vehicle to deliver tickets.
We have been fortunate to receive donations from local banks to enable us to stream the football playoff game on the Divide County School District Facebook page using Facebook LIVE, which is free to all viewers. There may also be an option for a Pixellot video stream connection, which we are still working on to make sure we have a good connection. There is a charge of $10.99 if this connection becomes available. Further details about these two options will be provided by Thursday night. The game is also being broadcast on FM 105.7.

FBLA is kicking off the year with fundraising for the American Heart Association. Please help us show our support for this great cause! Online donations will run to October
31st. You can donate by visiting https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/NDFBLA or
texting NDFBLA to 71777.

Divide County Patrons,
Following is information regarding the upcoming football playoff game to be at Divide County this coming Saturday, October 24, 2020. DC Maroons will host the Beach Buccaneers at 2:30 p.m. (CT) at the DCHS Football Field. Because this is a post-season playoff game, local board and/or administration regulations for these games are not optional. According to recent action of the NDHSAA, all regulations and protocols of the North Dakota High School Activities Association must be followed. NDHSAA has established the following Protocols for this playoff game:
Attendance Restrictions – Only two (2) tickets are allotted per football team participant and coaches. Those tickets will be distributed by coaches to their players Wednesday at practice. The cost of all tickets is $8.00 per ticket. Fans will be requested to show their numbered ticket at the south main entrance to the football field at which time they will pay the admission price of $8.00. Only the south main entrance to the field will be used and will open at 1:00 p.m.
Masks are required for all fans and sideline personnel.
Game broadcast – The game will be broadcast on FM 105.7 (The Mix). By NDHSAA regulations, the playoff game cannot be livestreamed without the permission of the NDHSAA and will cost $500 to do so. We are currently soliciting donations to make this possible in case our NFHS Network Pixellot system is not activated by Saturday.
We are anticipating a few tickets to be available to the general public by Wednesday, October 21, but don’t have a final number at this time. More information concerning availability of those tickets, where and when to purchase one, etc. will be available Tuesday night.

Learning Disabilities Awareness Month: Part 2- Dyslexia
What is dyslexia? Dyslexia is a learning disability that affects how a person see’s letters. Some letters might appear backwards or upside down, text might appear to jump around on a page, or a person may not be able to tell the difference between letters that look similar such as o, e, and c.
Here is a great video that explains dyslexia:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65psPXWzNic
Can you imagine trying to read passages that look like the page below? 1 in 5 students have a learning disability called dyslexia. With that being said, please know that some of the reversals are common among children to age 7 and are part of the developmental process, but please discuss with your child’s teacher if you are concerned.
What is something that you can do to help support a child with dyslexia?
1) Allow them extra time to think and process.
2) Focus on their strengths and abilities.
3) Accept, encourage, and support the child.
4) Empower self-advocacy
Remember, “My ABILITY is stronger than my disability.”

Hello everyone!!
Ms. Wheeling and Mrs. Ratcliffe here- ready to spread some awareness about learning disabilities! October is National Learning Disabilities Awareness Month, so twice a week for the rest of the month, we will be posting a small lesson about learning disabilities that our families can participate in, as we are hoping that it will promote discussions with your child and help raise awareness about this topic that we are so passionate about!
What are learning disabilities?
Are there different types of learning disabilities?
Did you know that 4 out of every 20 children in the U.S. have a learning disability?
Did you know that adults can have learning disabilities too?
Here is a short video to watch with your child about learning disabilities: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCqeFxDgacQ
After watching the video, please respond to this post or message us any questions that your child may have had or 1 thing that they found to be interesting.

Dear DCSD Patrons,
The following information may be helpful in planning for upcoming activities. At this time, it is not certain whether Divide County will or will not host a play-off football game on October 24. That decision will be made Saturday, October 17 after all regular season region games are finished. Likewise, it is uncertain whether Divide County will be a host site for part of the district volleyball tournament. That decision will be made available after October 21.
For preliminary planning purposes, it has been established that there will be limited attendance at a hosted football playoff game and at any hosted district volleyball games. The fan attendance for the football play-off game will be limited to 5 tickets per DCHS football player/coach and 100 tickets for the visiting team fans. The District #16 Volleyball Committee is limiting seating to 100 seats for both teams for any district volleyball games during the tournament.
Details regarding admission prices and ticket distribution will be made available once the game site locations are finalized.

DCSD will be making breakfast and lunches available for pick-up beginning Monday, October 12 during distance learning. To sign-up, call the district office at 701-965-6313 by Friday at 12 noon.

Due to the school transitioning to distance learning, the flu shot clinics scheduled for DCE & DCHS have been cancelled. We are checking to see if this will be rescheduled.

Devices (iPads or Chromebooks) will be sent home with all students today for distance learning. Each student has been assigned a device along with charger cords. Please make sure all items are taken care of and returned when on-campus learning resumes. Thank you!

Dear DCSD Families,
As you are aware, our community is experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases. At both DCE and DCHS, we are recording very high numbers of student and staff absences due to COVID related incidents. In order to protect student, staff, and community health, we feel it is necessary for our schools to begin distance learning for a period of two weeks. School will dismiss at regular time today, Wednesday, October 7. Distance learning will begin on Friday, October 9 and continue through Wednesday, October 21. Classes will resume on campus on Monday, October 26, assuming that COVID circumstances have subsided and it is safe and feasible to return to in-person instruction.
During this period of distance learning, it is imperative for all students and their families to take extra measures and precautions to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community. If everyone does their part to slow the spread, we can get our students back in the building after the two-week quarantine. This time is not intended for students to be gathering outside of school, which will defeat the purpose. Please stay home, continue to practice good hygiene, social distance, and wear a mask. Everyone’s efforts are necessary to get our students back in school.
All extra-curricular activities and practices will be suspended until October 21.
Our heartfelt concerns go out to our students, staff, and community members who are experiencing COVID related illnesses at this time. We wish you all a speedy recovery!

COVID-19 UPDATE:
There have been positive COVID-19 cases identified at both DCE and DCHS. It is very likely that members of the community are hearing pieces of information that may or may not be accurate. Please take note that the school is required to follow the NDDOH protocol when notifying families regarding any of these incidents involving the school. The information provided by NDDOH sometimes appears to conflict with what the public understands about the contact tracing and quarantining process. Consequently, in some instances in school, students have been required to quarantine at home for 14 days, while other students, who may be perceived as close contacts, are not required to quarantine, but instead self-monitor, or maybe no extra precautions are required. This is because every situation is unique.
Several factors are taken into consideration when the NDDOH is working with the school COVID team to determine level of contact. Some of these factors include social distancing efforts, amount of time spent with the positive case, whether or not both parties were wearing masks, and when the infectious period began.
Unfortunately, there are times that the public may become aware of an incident before the school can officially notify affected families due to NDDOH, FERPA, and HIPAA protocols that the school must adhere to. During the investigation of reported cases, the school takes allowable precautions to protect all students and staff until final notifications can be made. This investigation is a careful process to ensure the health and safety of all involved and takes time. Some cases take longer than others to complete.
We apologize for any confusion and frustration you may experience. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to manage new circumstances for our school and community.

There will be no Elementary volleyball practice tomorrow and no scrimmage on October 12th.

School COVID Close Contacts: In "close contact" situations involving the school classroom/teams/clubs you will be contacted by the school through a letter. The NDDOH works closely with the school COVID team to determine who the close contacts are and the notification is made by the school. Families will not be contacted by a contact tracer from the NDDOH when the case involves the school. The exception to this would be if your contact with the positive case was outside of the school in a social setting.

Just a reminder as we welcome fans to student activities at DCHS:
We understand we are considered a Blue County at this time, but we also know that we are not confined within our own county borders. Our own sports teams travel to other towns and we have other communities and schools attending events in our county and school.
We want to support all of our students in the classroom as well as on the playing field/court. We want our students to continue face to face learning and continue to be afforded opportunities to participate in activities. It will take the efforts of all in our community and especially those in attendance at our school activities to help us limit the possible spread of COVID-19.
We hope our community understands the stress it puts on our students and staff when they are required to quarantine to deliver instruction or receive instruction. We understand no one would ever intentionally cause this, it is unavoidable, and often spread without us even knowing. So, please, help us keep possible exposure to a minimum.
Please help us and our students by doing the following when in attendance at our outdoor and indoor activities:
1. Stay home if you are sick.
2. Social distance – stay 6 feet away from others.
3. Wear a mask if you cannot social distance.
4. Wash hands frequently or use hand sanitizer.

When it comes to summer, reading may not be the first thing—or even in the top ten things—kids have in mind! But reading can be the ideal summer activity. It’s fun, portable, can involve the whole family, and will help your child academically. Use these resources to launch a summer of reading. And, as always, check out your local library!
https://www.readacrossamerica.org/kids-summer-reading-list/

DCE and DCHS will have drop off hours tomorrow (Thursday) from 10:30 AM to 12:00 Noon for any school related materials (Chromebooks, library books, text books). Please use the main entrances for both buildings. Thanks again for all your help. Have a safe and wonderful summer.

We will have a sign out sheet with a recorder filling out when people take their gear back, to help ensure honesty and security of peoples personal property. If you need any help, get a hold of and stay in contact with your teachers. We will do whatever it takes to help you finish the year strong!

Hey everyone,
A document has been shared with the senior graduating class in their respective senior Google Classroom outlining the social distancing requirements of this years ceremony on May 24th at the high school gym. Each senior will get to bring eight family member guests, and will be seated by ushers six feet apart to maximize social distancing. Also, all graduates and their families will be required to wear masks. These precautions are being done in part to appease recommendations from the state of North Dakota and the state school board association. Ultimately DC schools are using these precautions to protect all of the graduating students, the graduates families and everyone involved with the ceremony. The school is recommending the decorating of individual masks to make the process more unique and enjoyable. Thanks everyone for your cooperation and understanding! Congrats to the class of 2020.

DCHS students and families: Where do you do your school work? We would like pictures of you in your prom dress, or the vehicle you were going to go to prom in, maybe the meal you would have eaten that night.
We want to see how you are spending your time and what your new normal looks like. We will use these pictures to fill our yearbook! Please email pictures to dcsdyearbook@gmail.com.
Thank you for all your help!

DCHS Senior Families - A survey seeking input from senior families regarding graduation was emailed today to emails we have on file. If you do not receive it, please email nicholas.ator@k12.nd.us with your updated email information.

Hey everyone. We all hope that you’re staying safe and healthy during this unprecedented time of unease and inconvenience. We know that the students of our school have all been dealt a cruel hand. Things like sporting seasons, awards ceremonies and social functions have been taken from them like never before, not to mention plain old school. We are working behind the scenes to make an honest effort at providing whatever we can in terms of these events. We are still, in part, hoping that possibly we can return to the school building in May. With that said, we need to consider forms of alternative options. We could have prom in May or at a later date into the summer. Graduation, especially, is our number one priority. For graduation specifically we are considering a few alternative plans including but not limited to: a ceremony outdoors on the football field where we could practice social distancing, a digital display of students using Facebook or the like, or simply moving the date back into the summer. All of these plans have weaknesses and will cause us problems, but it is the best we can offer during this time. In the meantime we are awaiting guidance from the Governor on whether we can be in the school building or not in May. At that point we can finalize our decisions as quickly as possible. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding.

DAY 1 - Successful!
Good Evening, Everyone!
I want to thank everyone who helped make this first day of online learning a success! Thank you to our teachers who diligently worked to convert classroom learning to an online platform in a matter of 7 days! We are so blessed to have such dedicated, talented, and innovative teachers and staff at DCE! They put in LONG hours making sure that we could continue educating the kids of our community!
Thank you to our PARENTS!!!! You truly are rock stars! Thank you for being patient with us as we introduce you to this new platform. Thank you for adding even more responsibilities to your already full plates during this time of uncertainty. We appreciate all that you are doing alongside us right now! You are not alone - we are here to support each other every step of the way!
Thank you to our students! They are so resilient and eager to try out this new platform! So much so that a few of them made some discoveries prompting us to set up some guidelines and boundaries for using the online learning platform. They keep us on our toes!!
Please see said guidelines attached to this message and review the expectations with your students. I'll be going over them during announcements tomorrow morning as well as popping into a few LIVE lessons to review the expectations with smaller groups of students.
I appreciate everyone's help! We can do this TOGETHER! ~Mrs. Brown

Need new library books?
Contact Mrs. Wissbrod at megan.wissbrod@k12.nd.us. Check out the online library catalog to see what is available. Pick up at the elementary/public library.
https://polaris.odinlibrary.org/polaris/default.aspx?ctx=27.1033.0.0.1

DCE teachers will be going LIVE during their scheduled live classroom times beginning today. Don't worry if you don't have access or aren't sure where to go yet. Monday and Tuesday are the days for us to help everyone get things figured out. Email your teacher or Mrs. Brown if you are having any difficulties. We're here to work through this TOGETHER! We'll see you soon!

Good evening. Just a reminder that on-line school starts tomorrow morning at 8:30. Teachers are all ready to go with their Google Classrooms. Even hour classes are Monday and Wednesdays and your Odd hour classes are Tuesday and Thursday. Assignments will be due on Friday and teachers are working Fridays for if you need to check in with them. Please understand we will be taking attendance for these classes, as well as assigning work. We can't wait to get connected with our students and start a new, unprecedented chapter in the history of DC schools. Get logged in tomorrow and we will all do our best! If anyone has any issues at all, call the high school or email your teachers. Go Divide County Maroons.

Junior High and High School teachers decided whether or not to send home specific textbooks. So in short, not all textbooks are going to be sent home. Only books that specific teachers elected to us as we continue our classes. Teachers will address this with students in their Google Classrooms.

For everyone's safety please stay in your cars during pickup at the High School building. Staff will bring it out to you at the main entrance. Thank you.

Hey everyone. Here is the link to the DCHS on-line schedule ( https://5il.co/e5h9 ) for teachers and our students’ classes. We elected to create a block schedule to hopefully allow more time for students and teachers to work together in their on-line platforms. Even period classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays, odd period classes are on Tuesday and Thursdays. We also hope that these blocks will allow more time for students personal schedules. A paper copy of this document will also be in students bags when we conduct pickup.
Please note that teachers also have “office hours” to be available for on-line meetings, emails and phone calls from our students. On Fridays teachers are available from 8:00 to 4:00 to all of their students in all of their classes. The high school hopes that this week, beginning Thursday and into Friday, all students can get logged into their Google Classrooms. This way we will know who needs help with class access going forward. Then on Monday (3/30) we can hit the ground running by beginning instruction and completing assignments. Any student in grades 7 thru 12 that cannot get logged into a class by Monday can please call the high school.
A helpful hint to students is to highlight or mark their own personal class schedules in this new block system. Students, please remember which period you have your assigned period class…meaning there is two periods of a 7th grade science class. You should remember that you were in either the 1st or 2nd hour science class. The teachers have you placed in your same, original periods Google classroom.

Calling all readers! If you would like a new library book, please contact Mrs. Wissbrod with your specific request. Check out our online catalog to see what is available! We will add the book(s) with your student’s belongings that will sent home later this week. All current library books will be renewed with no overdue fines.

Divide County High School is in the process of deploying curriculum in a digital platform, per order of North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction. This digital platform will come in a small variety of teaching formats and learning applications including Google Classroom and Acellus.
DCHS teachers and staff have created Google Classroom formats for students to log into. Directions for the Google Classroom format will attached in a different document. Teachers will be available in a variety of ways to further student instruction, including creating videos, internet chat, email and telephone calls. Many of these ways to correspond with students are available in the google classroom application. A modified schedule of classes will be released as soon as possible.
There is an expectation of all schools to continue to appropriately provide an education for all their students and DCHS intends to do their best to fulfill that expectation. We want to do this in a reasonable and fair manner. Students will have to be responsible in their ability to log in to these digital classrooms and work on assigned course work. In turn students can get all the help they need. Students are encouraged to email and set up times for teachers to chat with them in one on one meetings or meet with groups of students if they need help.
We literally are putting one foot in front of the other to make this work. We will all learn as we go.

Child Nutrition Program Meals - Thank you for your interest in participating in the meal program during the school closure. In order to best serve each interested family's needs, we ask that you call the district office to get your family on the official lunch count. Please call 701-965-6313 today. Divide County School District Families ONLY - We are asking all DCSD families to complete this survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NSSVLZH regarding your interest in participating in the Child Nutrition program available during this time of school closure. Meals are free to children in your home from ages 1-18. Please complete the survey ASAP so we may adjust plans according to interest level of our families. Please complete ONLY ONE survey per family. Once we know the level of interest in participating, we will have more information regarding pick-up and distribution of meals. Thank you!

Divide County School District continues to follow the Governor’s directives and will be closed to everyone except to essential personnel until further notice.
The high school and elementary staff continue to diligently prepare digital and distance educational opportunities for our students. We are missing our daily interactions with our students and want to provide them with as much reassurance and normalcy as possible. We are working to use a variety of technological tools to make face-to-face contact with our students. Roll out of these services will gradually begin next week.
Plans are being made for students to pick up their personal belongings next week as well as pick up instructional tools that they will need during this closure period. More information will be available regarding dates and times next week. If anything is needed urgently, please call the district office at 701-965-6313.
We have learned that legislation is allowing us to offer breakfast and lunch to all children ages 1-18. More information regarding this program will be available soon.
Please stay safe, healthy, and continue to practice social distancing.

Divide County School District is currently working under the Governor's directives to make plans for a variety of scenarios going forward. This includes planning for possible re-entry into school and also exploring options of virtual learning for our students if an extended school closure is recommended. DCSD families will be receiving a phone call from a school representative inquiring as to each family's ability to connect to the internet as well as their access to a device. Paper/pencil options are also being reviewed in case of an extended closure. The Governor is expected to make an announcement on Friday offering guidance as to how schools in ND will proceed.

Good morning, Due to the current school closure, Divide County School District understands that there may be families who need assistance providing meals for their children. If your family is on free or reduced lunches at school and you need assistance during this time, please call the district office at 701-965-6313 by 4:00 today. We will make available a brown bag breakfast/lunch for pick-up at the school on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Guidance Update: Governor Burgum has announced that ND K-12 schools will be closed for 5 school days. DCSD classes will resume on Monday, March 23, 2020. The Governor has recommended practicing good hygiene and social distancing during this time.

Update from Divide County School District
Divide County School District will remain open, as advised by the NDDOH, NDDPI, and the Governor’s Office.
As a proactive measure, DCSD will be suspending all after-school activities indefinitely. This includes the elementary after-school KIDSS program. NDHSAA has suspended all sports practices, game contests, and fine arts activities.
All outside community members and organizations who have been using school facilities including the gym, weight room, lunchroom, etc. and parents volunteering with any school related activity will not have access at this time. DCE Banking and Junior Achievement activities will also be postponed. The Missoula Children’s Theater will also be postponed or cancelled. The Divide County Library will only be open to the general public from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon until further notice. The district has suspended all school-related student and staff travel at this time including field trips.
In addition, until further notice, DCSD will be restricting access to school buildings during the school day to permit only parents and essential services such as food service and necessary supply deliveries. We ask parents to come into the school only when there is an absolute need
to do so.
Parent-Teacher Conferences, that are scheduled for March 23, 24, and 26, will be conducted via phone, email, or other form of communication during the scheduled dates from 4:00-7:30 p.m. More information will be forthcoming as we approach the scheduled conference dates. The Scholastic Book Fair scheduled at DCHS during this time will not be open to the public. Other options for public sale are being explored.
DCE and DCHS will suspend all attendance incentives for semester test exemptions. Other considerations for semester test exemptions may be considered by the administration and staff as we continue into the rest of the school year. This includes perfect attendance awards. Students and staff who are ill are strongly advised to stay home.
Looking into the future, decisions regarding prom and spring concerts have not been made. It is possible these activities could be streamed for the public to view.
Thank you for your cooperation and consideration regarding the actions being taken in response to COVID-19. As additional guidance becomes available, the district will continue to update any changes to plans.

Update: We are currently working with Living Tree and PowerSchool to make the corrections to fields pulling guardian emails and cell phone #'s. Once the fix has been made we'll notify you through this platform so you know when to expect your invitation email or text. Thank you for your patience. It will be fantastic when we get everyone connected!

Hi Everyone! I'm just so excited that Living Tree is LIVE! We're hearing some great feedback from families about the information they are already getting from classrooms! So AWESOME!! I know there is a little confusion right now getting some of the kinks worked out. Please let us know what troubles you are experiencing (701-965-6324). Living Tree technicians are working with us to get these issues corrected ASAP. Here are two of the issues we currently have fixes for or know to be an issue:
1. iPhone App showing mostly white where text should be. Fix: Turn off DARK MODE setting
2. Only one parent receiving the invitation email. Fix: Option 1: Parent who received email can login and invite the other parent - we are noticing that this doesn't work in all cases. Option 2: Wait while DCE works with Living Tree to correct this. We want to have this fixed before the end of the week.
If you are experiencing any other issues, please contact the DCE office to let us know and we'll get right on it! Make it a great day!

Divide County Elementary is excited to announce that we will be working with Livingtree to help bring families closer to their child’s learning experiences at school! Starting February 17, 2020, we are implementing the Livingtree Engage platform across DCE. This new engagement platform will be a private and secure community for families and teachers to work together in support of better learning outcomes for children.
With this easy-to-use platform, families can respond to posts, messages, files, photos, videos, events, and volunteer opportunities on Livingtree Engage, which is available on the web, as well as iOS and Android mobile applications. Additionally, users can select their preferred language to receive information, with over 100 languages available.
We encourage everyone to ensure that their contact information is correct and up-to-date. Emails will be sent out on February 17, 2020 with information regarding their Livingtree account. All you need to do is follow the instructions in the message to finish setting up your account.
The current Divide County School District App will still be used to communicate with the community. Livingtree simply provides a private, safe way to share specific classroom information with families only of that classroom.
You can use Livingtree Engage on any device. Simply download the free mobile app for iOS or Android, or use it on a computer or mobile browser at: http://learn.livingtree.com. Our goal is for every family to join Livingtree Engage. Please feel free to ask us any questions or contact Livingtree’s Customer Support.
